Notes from the Field

MANY THANKS to the Girl Scouts and all of the volunteers that helped make this year a success. We're already hearing from our heroes.

Good morning,
I received two HUGE boxes of Girl Scout cookies and several notes and South Carolina magazines...how nice!! Yes, I shared with many people in the medical department and we are all very thankful to have people like you supporting us and sending good wishes and nice boxes!! It only took a few minutes for the word to get out there were boxes of cookies in the mental health department and BOOM!! The cookies were gone in almost an hour but I kept several boxes hidden for later. Thank-you many times from the Expeditionary Medical Forces Kuwait, Camp Arifjan Navy Medical Department! Your kindness means a lot to all of us!!
Sincerely,
CDR Susan J. Roti Navy Reservist Nurse

Ma'am,
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank your group for the generous packages of Girl Scout cookies. I have received two large packages of the cookies, which I have distributed throughout 5-4 Cavalry here in Iraq. On behalf of the Troopers of 5-4 Cavalry, thank you very much for your kind gifts, which remind us of home even as we continue on with the mission over here.

I'm not sure who will be receiving this message but thank you. I think it was the night of April 2 I flew from Columbia, SC to Kuwait. You were one of the organizations there to show your support. Everyone there is now in my heart. I never knew that your support would be this important. I am now in Baghdad and everywhere I go I see images all over the place of how much Americans support us and it has become a comforting sight. I don't know if anyone ever acknowledges you for your efforts but I wanted to make sure you know that goes a long way. Thank you for standing by for us.
Will

I just wanted to thank your organization for the incredible show of support during our departure from Columbia on Jan 30, 2009. I was overwhelmed by the tremendous display of patriotism and kindness. Such an experience makes this tour of duty in Iraq feel more like a privilege rather than obligation! God Bless everyone in your organization and God Bless America!

Ladies:
I want to take a minute to thank you for your thoughtfulness in seeing myself and others from FT Jackson off to Iraq. Although it was early in the morning you took the time to come and see us. In case many don't tell you; that means a lot to us.
With regards,
MAC(EXW/SW/AW) T. E. 'TJ' Dudek
