Yellow ribbons have almost disappeared and many that remain are worn and faded. Has American Pride faded like our ribbons ? Displaying yellow ribbons is one of the ways we can show respect for our troops and their families. It takes so little on our part to display yellow ribbons, yet it means so much to our troops. Work in your neighborhood and community to put up more yellow ribbons for our troops to see. This is a great way to say "Thank You" to the troops returning home and "Come Back Soon" to the ones being deployed.
AT&T Phone Cards make a great gift for our soldiers deployed soldiers. You can help make it possible for soldiers to call home. Officers have asked for calling card for private and lower grade soldiers.

Our wounded Soldiers go to military hospitals for care in the war zones of the Middle East and are transferred to other locations for further care. Jammies for GIs provides pajamas for our wounded soldiers so they don't have to rely on military issue hospital gowns while hospitalized and when transferred to other facilities. We need IMMEDIATE donations of pajamas in Sizes Large and Extra Large.
This project was started at the request of our soldiers. The soldiers noticed that some of the orphan children do not have winter clothes and began requested we provide assistance for the children. Operation Desert Child helps to provide some essential clothing and other basic needs of the children that are homeless and in orphanages
Using the latest in computer and telecommunications technology,
the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces (SAF) sends communications on
behalf of family members who are facing emergencies or other important events.
Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, SAF links members
of the U.S. Armed Forces with their families during emergencies. Also, when a
service members child is born, the Red Cross may be asked by the birth
mother to deliver an announcement to the new father.
The service
reaches men and women deployed at military installations, embassies and ships
at sea all around the world. This is possible because of our dedicated team of
volunteer caseworkers.
Through the worldwide network, Red Cross
caseworkers:
·Verify the
circumstances of a death, critical illness or injury, or other emergency
affecting a service members immediate family
·Send
an emergency communication message to the service members location
·Ensure delivery of the
message
·Follow up with the
family
Service members and military commanders rely on Red Cross
emergency communications to help make leave decisions or to help service
members cope with the emergency in other ways.
To contact SAF, call

Churches, schools and other organizations can send cards and letters to deployed troops. Drawings from children are also enjoyed by the soldiers. The soldiers put the drawings in their tents and will look at the drawings before going on a mission. They realize that this is what they are fighting for -- the freedom and future of our children. Sending cards and letters is one way you can help our soldiers know that they are remembered and that you appreciate them and respect the sacrifices they make as they fight for freedom.
Operation Shoe Box sends a shoebox size "care package" to deployed troops. South Carolina Chapters of Blue Star Mothers have incorporated this into the Operation Enduring Freedom project.
The Midlands Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America participates
in the military honors of our Brave and Honorable Fallen Soldiers.
The presentation of the Gold Star Banner is given to the Mother and Wife of our
American Hero at the grave site.
The Gold Star Banner is given
in reverence and humility of the brave and ultimate sacrifice our Fallen Hero
has made in the fight for freedom.
